iF DESIGN MARATHON 2022
Day 7: World Design Capital Valencia 2022

In Valencia, the iF Design Marathon will be given a great reception for the second time: The World Design Capital will present itself in October with the thematic highlights “Design & Health” and “Fashion & Sustainability” - topics that are mutually dependent and for which designers develop sustainable solutions. Get an insight into the design industry in Valencia and Spain.

Within the framework of World Design Capital Valencia 2022, the city hosted the first edition of Future of Fashion (FoF 2022), an international think tank on the transformation of the fashion industries. Learn more about its objectives here:

From 365 days of design fireworks, Valencia presents its November highlight - the World Design Policy Conference!

Organised by World Design Capital Valencia 2022, the World Design Policy Conference provides a global platform for the exchange of ideas and a laboratory for experimentation “think tank” where best practices are presented from different countries, regions and cities that work from the inclusion of effective design policies. It would be the 3rd and 4th of November 2022 in Valencia Conference Center.

Design-led urban policies are increasingly recognized as critical to shaping the future prosperity and wellbeing of a city and its inhabitants. «World Design Policy Conference» is a live in-person meeting in Valencia, one of the Signature Events of the World Design Capital 2022, with the mediterranean city at the international spotlight as a pole of attraction for foreign investments seeking opportunities thanks to its development and stability.

The findings and conclusions of this Conference have the potential to set the foundation for a design-led legacy programme that benefits both the design community and mainly the citizens, and that resonates far beyond the designated WDC year. A content that can influence existing policies facilitating a legacy in political management.

MORE INFORMATION

The title ‘World Design Capital’ is given every two years by the WORLD DESIGN ORGANIZATION (WDO) in Montreal (Canada) to cities that use design to improve economic, social and cultural life.

Valencia is the third largest city in Spain and is located on the Mediterranean coast. In the Valencia region, which includes the provinces of Castellon, Valencia and Alicante (from north to south), one finds a tremendous amount of creativity, design talent, innovation and good design. The election of the World Design Capital 2022 is a fantastic opportunity to show how the design industry in the region of Valencia enriches both Spain and the rest of the world.
